๐ The Energetics of Autumn
The seasonal energetics - and for that fact - all of natureโs cycles and energy overall can be quite extensive and a bit complicated. In this post, I try to keep it simple and short.
This Season marks one of the two balance points of the Seasonal Wheel; from late July until now the theme has been working hard, creating, realizing, manifesting, and much more, immediately followed by harvest season. All of this is often combined with enjoying the nice weather while hopefully in a loving environment.
Yet, the wheel is turningโฆ
๐ Autumn is about Preparation
After all that hard work tiredness hangs in the airโฆ but wait! There are still a few things to do. Yes, the hard and often physical & external work is (almost) done as we have just finished harvest season but this is the time of composting; we take what weโve harvested and compost it into something valuable and usable for the Winter Season.
What lessons did you harvest or are you willing to harvest and compost during Autumn Season?
And composting is a process that is not done overnight. It takes time, consideration, love, effort and even preparing the process before the actual process takes place.
๐ Autumn & slowing down
However, as the weather begins to shift with longer and colder nights itโs important to start to slow down and spend more time indoors. A good Winter preparation is therefore to make our home safe and cozy.
In the same way, we prepare our bodies - at all levels - for Winter. Detoxifying the body - always done under professional supervision! - is a good idea for the early Autumn Season.
By spending less time outside, we also protect ourselves from the changing weather elements keeping ourselves healthy.
๐ Autumn & the Art of Releasing
Looking at old traditions, we see this period as a time of going inward. This is often seen as the journey to the underworld. To navigate this journey successfully it is necessary to shed all that no longer serves us.
Like the snake, we too, need to shed the old so weโre ready to be reborn around early Spring Season.
Thatโs why this is also great for holistic decluttering:
Decluttering the body, detoxifying, as mentioned previously
Decluttering the mental & emotional body
Decluttering the environment like our home, people, and anything else that is no longer in use or unfulfilling.
Decluttering the soul
Releasing, letting go, decluttering, and detoxifying are all necessary to create space.
Ps: No one said it was easyโฆ
Only when thereโs space, thereโs an opportunity for something new (and better) to come in.
Shedding the old marks the beginning of the end of a cycle and with this ending a new cycle can start again.
โ๏ธ Autumn Journaling Prompts
What did you gain during Spring & Summer that you know will be a major asset for Autumn & Winter time? And how can you fine-tune and prepare this asset during Autumn?
Write about those lessons & assets intensively and create an action plan for Autumn. Are there books, people, podcasts, videos, websites, newsletters, Substacks writers & content creators, or anything else that can help you, or support you in this process? Make a list, then a to-do list, and plan accordingly.
Are there things, people, or anything else you know you need to release? Or at least take a break during the dark seasons? If so, how are you going to let them go or take a break?
Feel free to share your answer and reflections in the comments:

๐ซ WeatherVaneโs Flow
Since moving to the new house I havenโt managed to unpack a few moving boxes that are still sitting in the attic ๐ซฃ and now, after being fed up with it, I finally going to unpack those darn boxes.
Being on a recovery journey has been quite confronting, to say the least. Iโm still working on my energy levels, among other things, and Iโm always exhausted after a few household chores. These chores - like cleaning the kitchen, doing the dishes, and vacuuming to name a few - are necessary on a daily basis so skipping them is not an option. To have the energy to not only unpack but to bend over and move things around - something to do with dealing with low blood pressure - has been a challenge ๐ญ.
Where and how to start is still a mystery...but I gave myself till the end of October. My partner is quite busy working so I donโt want to bother. Iโm thinking, however, to ask for help, and thatโs new to me, not to mention difficult.
As I mentioned above, decluttering is great during Autumn, so that has kept me motivated, and hopefully somewhat energized.
