📖 Your WeatherVane mo(o)nthly cyclical & celestial forecast
Most often known as the Buck Moon, which describes only the July Full Moon, this moon cycle report is written from my own experience and landscapes. For that reason, I like to choose a name I feel fits the moon cycle viewed from my own environment and weather, hence the Thunder Moon Cycle (1.), where temperatures reach their high point, calling in storm and thunder in the evenings and night for alleviation.
Moreover, as I have mentioned before, I like to name the entire moon cycle instead of just the full moon. Why? Because the full moon, no matter how beautiful and enchanting, is just one phase of an entire cycle, and it doesn’t feel right just to name a specific phase while forgetting about the rest, which is full of wisdom and magic as well.
The Thunder Moon Cycle starts on June 25th and will reach its final day on July 23rd. Paired with Cancer season’s emotional wisdom and Summer’s full blaze, this lunar cycle holds a distinct signature: electric, awakening, and emotionally cleansing.
In cyclical living, the Thunder Moon speaks to moments of inner electricity. Moments of charged and creative states where growth feels inevitable and intuition runs wild. Like the atmosphere before a storm, this cycle stirs tension and possibility. It can feel like a pressure system rising inside your body, your life, your dreams, demanding release, recalibration, and intentional action.
During this cycle infused with the summer’s radiance, our world feels more intense and alive. The longer days (2.) invite us to do more, to connect deeper, create bigger, and shine brighter. Internally, many of us may feel this as elevated energy, increased libido, heightened passions, and emotional magnification.
This cycle is a powerful time to:
Start your day with grounding
Create a calming space at home
Drink more water than usual
Write down one feeling each night
Move your body to release tension
Pause before reacting
Plan around how you want to feel
Take breaks to rest, without scrolling on our phones
Speak what matters
Let emotions guide you, not overwhelm you
Cancer New Moon (July 5, 2025): Cancer, ruled by the Moon, invites deep emotional attunement, self-care, and a revolution of the inner world. Set intentions around nurturing wellbeing, emotional safety, ancestral healing, or creating a sanctuary-energy in life and home.
Capricorn Full Moon (July 10, 2025): This opposite energy brings structure, boundaries, and accountability. It’s the culmination point; reflection on steps taken toward goals, career pursuits, responsibilities, and status alignment.
Cancer Season
(June 20 until July 22)
Cancer Season, ruled by the Moon, marks a shift into tenderness, inner listening, and emotional intelligence. As the fourth sign of the zodiac and the first water sign, Cancer draws us inward; toward the sanctuary of self, the roots of belonging, and the deep waters of intuition. This is a season of nourishment, not only for the body, but for the whole.
Cancer governs the home, both literal and emotional. This makes it an ideal season for reimagining what it means to feel safe, held, and whole from the inside out. This period offers the perfect moment to evaluate how your external life supports your internal needs. Does your schedule allow space for rest? Do your relationships reflect your values? Are your goals aligned with what genuinely matters to you and not just what looks good from the outside?
This is a time to lead from the heart. Decision-making isn’t best approached analytically right now; instead, it thrives when you honor your feelings as valid data. The Cancerian lens doesn’t dismiss logic, but it asks that emotion be given equal weight. Let your body, your gut, and your mood inform your next steps.
Cancer message: Come home to your truth, your tenderness, and your emotional wisdom. Let it be your compass and let it shape what you create.

Neptune Retrograde in Aries (starts July 4)
Plunging Neptune into retrograde in Aries during this cycle asks us to refine illusions about our identity, spiritual quest, and creative expression. With Cancer’s emotional clarity and Capricorn’s discernment, this retrograde helps separate fantasy from authentic selfhood, especially under summer’s intense light. Use intuitive practices to reassess where your spirit may be projecting dreams rather than developing grounded realities.
Saturn Retrograde in Aries (July 13)
Saturn retrograde in Aries brings a pause to the assertive, independent energy Saturn introduced in May. Paired with Cancer’s self-nurture, this is the time to revisit how you're doing at showing up as a leader in your own life, but with kindness rather than harsh judgment. Reflect on where you need structure without rigidity, discipline without self-criticism.
Mercury Retrograde in Leo (starts July 18)
Mercury retrograde in Leo, late in the cycle, asks us to examine how we communicate our inner radiance and boundaries. Leo Mercury is prone to theatrical misfires, so this is a moment to rethink personal branding, romantic expression, or where you're seeking approval.
Together, these retrogrades offer a powerful recalibration, especially during the emotionally charged depths of Cancer Season and the expansive summer months. They're asking: What dreams do I truly stand behind? What structures support, or suppress, my truest self? How do I wish to be seen? And how do I truly communicate my values and needs?
Archetypal energy: the Mother
In this moon cycle, the archetype of The Mother rises as a powerful guide, not just as a figure of literal motherhood, but as a universal energy of nourishment, protection, and creation. The Mother is an archetype found across all cultures and traditions. She is the sacred guardian of life, the provider of care, the fierce protector, and the soft embrace we long for when life feels too loud.
As Cancer season unfolds through most of this moon cycle, the invitation to embody the Mother archetype is profound. Cancer itself is often associated with maternal energy; emotionally attuned, intuitive, protective, and deeply invested in cultivating safe spaces. When paired with the Capricorn Full Moon, which brings structure and accountability into the mix, we’re asked to not only feel our nurturing instincts but to organize our lives around them.
The mother archetype is an invitation to mother yourself. This can include the soft and tender aspects ot the mother: soothing your nervous system, honoring your emotional world, tending to your inner child, and allowing yourself the rest you often postpone. But it also includes the firm, grounded aspects of mothering: setting boundaries, managing your resources, and creating supportive structures for yourself that lead to long-term stability and care.
